luPOD Seminar: What you had always wanted to know about your career at LU (and never dared to ask)
Thursday 23 OCTOBER, 2pm to 5pm
Lund University (LU): Location to be announced
Seminar description
This seminar provides an overview of typical as well as more marginal career paths at LU and their preconditions, including hiring strategies, current hiring policies, and legal constraints, but also explicit criticism of the status quo, as well as ample occasion for audience interaction. Its main purpose is to raise awareness of the types of employments at LU, on which realistic career-options are in turn based, so as to aid in better-informed career decision making. While the focus is on those employed under fixed-duration contracts secured by research grants, employment-security generally, and how to reasonably “plan” for periods of un-/under-employment are similarly addressed with respect to those employed as teachers. The seminar closes with a panel discussion among representatives of stakeholder groups.
The seminar is open to all LU pre and postdocs, broadly conceived.
