From time to time I receive emails that say: I want a complete
description of my horoscope, Moon Sign, and Sun Sign, and even Five
Signs are not enough for me. (Five Signs is the name of one of my
iPhone apps, it offers descriptions of the Moon Sign, Sun Sign,
Mercury Sign, Venus Sign and Mars Sign for any moment of birth).
From my point of view, this is a very wrong way of thinking about
astrology, especially for those who are new to astrology. Even the
best of "full horoscopes" are overly verbose, pointless and misleading
because they try to tell you "everything" about the person without
prioritizing the information, without separating the most essential
from superficial, without actually telling you what's the most
important about this person.
There are approaches that help to figure out what is really essential
in the horoscope but their use requires a developed astrological
thinking. I hope we shall come to them one day in our Astro School.
But if you want to know something essential about a person without
climbing the astrological learning curve, find out his or her Sun Sign
first of all. That will tell you the energy and the spirit of the
person. Then find the Moon Sign and that will tell you about the soul
and the emotional life. Then discover the Mercury Sign and understand
how this person thinks, learns, consumes information. Venus Sign will
tell you about likes, dislikes and values, Mars Sign - about ability
to work, fight and the sexual energy. These are all the personal
planets, they describe the person. Try to put them together and create
a multi-dimensional image in your mind, and you will learn a lot
without digging into astrological technicalities.
I have a professional astrological software named Solar Fire. Among
many other things, it can produce a "full report" for the given birth
details. Quite a few times I offered such a report to my friends who
wanted to have an example of "serious astrology". All of them were
puzzled and understood nothing, or close to nothing. Not because the
report is bad, it is okay. It is also not the fullest possible of
reports. It is simply pointless, like any "full report".
In the files section, I have posted such a report for Billy Connolly
(hey, I lived in Scotland for five years!). Read it if you wish and
try to recognize Billy in this text. And maybe you'll want to share
your opinion about it.
Thanks,
Alexander
