Sounds like a great idea.
Given that people need to attend various Penguin dinner, Speaker's
dinner, PDNS and other events, what date would suit the majority?
As part of the Ballarat Observatory Tour on Friday or Saturday during the day?
Thoughts, comments?
Cheers,
Marco
The observatory tour is completely booked out, and I (for one) didn't
get in fast enough.
I'm planning on driving out to Phillip Is Saturday morning, so could do
a breakfast meeting that day, but nothing too late.
Otherwise, I think Monday night is fairly free for most delegates. They
are re-running the speaker familiarisation session that night for people
who don't make it to the one on the Sunday. I doubt it would go for a
long time, though, so dinner on Monday might be a feasible alternative.

Additionally, I should have a BBQ area available to me at my hotel (as
well as a kitchen), so if people would prefer to pick up some meat
and/or salad rather than go to a restaurant (which might not be suitable
for conversation, depending on the venue), then I'd be happy to play
hostess.

Yes, Monday evening sounds good.

That's a kind offer.
Is your hotel close to the University accommodation ?
Transport may be an issue for some.

The hotel is on Main Rd, and should be serviced by the bus route (but I
haven't double checked that). Additionally, I will have my car at the
university, so if a couple of people need a lift, we can arrange that.
That said, if there's a better suggestion, I'm happy to take it :)

Monday (the 16th) night the Ghosts dinner will be held @7pm, so as not
to interfere with DDU on the Sunday.
On an aside, has anyone been following the Raspberry Pi?
http://www.raspberrypi.org/faqs
It's very interesting hardware for a very reasonable price. Could be
very helpful for prototyping.

Marco

OK, so we're kind of running out of nights here ...
Monday: Speaker briefing + Ghosts
Tuesday: Speakers Dinners
Wednesday: PDNS/UnPDNS
Thursday: Penguin Dinner
Friday: Observatory Tour
Thoughts?

A couple of ideas to consider:
1) A brief catch-up between events on Monday, etc. Will likely be too short.
2) Stuart made the excellent suggestion that if we're able to select where we sit at the Penguin dinner, we can make a Lunar Numbat table & discuss things over a meal.
3) Is anyone going on the Observatory tour? Might Friday be an option to catch-up?

marco

Luke,
Technically I have an extra ticket, as my partner gets a free dinner for being a volunteer.
Can probably give it to you instead.
Fwiw: I am on the Friday observatory tour, but I know Lana is not. She may be able to swap with someone tho.

Might we form a Lunar Numbat table at the penguin dinner then? I suspect now that everyone has a ticket.
Lana, thanks for the generous offer. I'll be attending the ghosts dinner tonight, so Lunar Numbat get-together won't be possible this evening.
One more possible suggestion for an LN get together; how about a breakfast get together Saturday morning?

I'll be there.

Ok, let's can it.

Actually, that would be perfect for me. Location?

Regarding the Lunar Numbat breakfast meeting tomorrow morning: Breakfast service itself will close at 9.00am, so if you intend to eat at the refectory, please come earlier.
The get-together itself will still start at 9.00 am.
Look forward to seeing you there!
Cheers, Marco
