Hello all –
This message is for those of you who are NAR members. Those of you who do not belong to the NAR can stop reading now (unless you enjoy reading requests from organization HQs.
The NAR just launched their new website, although by “just” I mean like three months ago, but I wanted to wait for them to get the bugs out before sending this out. In the email chain below, Section Chair Chuck Neff asked that all members log into the site to make sure each membership got transferred correctly to the new system. He also asked that you associate your membership with the section you fly with, which in this case is LUNAR, Section #534. You don’t have to actually be a LUNAR member to do this, NAR HQ just wants to know which sections are frequented by which members. Apparently, the way to do this is not very clear on the site, so Art Gibbens did a follow up post with the procedure (directly below).
Thanks for taking the time to do this. The reason they’re asking is that there needs to be a minimum number of NAR members in a section for it to be chartered and be covered by insurance. I don’t remember the exact number, but I know it’s in the single digits. With something like 150 to 200 NAR members, LUNAR isn’t in any kind of danger, but we do like to conform to the rules.

Have you ever wondered how to ensure that you are shown to be affiliated with a local section/club with the NAR? Here's how to do it:
Log on to NAR.org
Got to Profile under your name in the upper right hand corner of the website
Your Member Profile/Membership Summary page opens
Under "More Membership Options" choose the link "Clubs/Additional Members"
Next to your name choose "Add Club" icon
From the drop down menu, choose the clubs you want to be affiliated with.
That's it. Now you are in the NAR database being shown affiliated with the NAR clubs you fly with.

Section Leaders,
Please forward the message to ALL your Section members and get them to log into the new NAR website. While they're there, please have them add their affiliation to your Section. We will soon be auditing Section memberships to ensure that each Section is meeting the minimum membership requirements so it is imperative that every Section member is counted.
Thanks,
