Hoo boy! What a launch! I know it took me two weeks to get the flight cards counted, but here are the amazing results:
Being the “last chance” for most of the ARC teams, we were more than a little busy all day. We had 354 launches, burning 386 motors in every impulse category from Micromax to “L”. Of those flights, 106 were by the 28 ARC teams present (which represent 3% of all teams registered nationally!), resulting in one team qualifying for the nationals and another the fifth alternate. In addition to ARC, we had 16 Level 1 certs, 6 Level 2 certs, and 2 SLI “K” flights from Stanford. On top of all that, there were 22 flights dedicated to our past president, Dave Raimondi, 2 to James Marino and 2 more to Mike Gentile.
Yes, it was hectic, but at no point did we slacken our safety protocols. The waits in line sometimes stretched to half an hour or more, but no one went away not able to launch.
