I switched from Unity to GNOME SHELL 3.
Now i find Gnome too as slow upto some extent. It takes very much time after startup to load. Also

1)when more apps are opened it is taking more time to respond.

    2)The workspaces provided in Unity were far better as Unity isolates every workspace and by Alt+Tab you can get into other workspace's window.But in Gnome it can switch {Not        something i want}

Also i have tried majority of options [which seemed valid to me] on internet. {Have not tried to change start up scripts of Gnome}.

So what is the prefered to use Gnome with some modifications. If yes --- please specify.

If no then which Desktop Enviroment is fast and lite to use :- Cinnamon,Xfce,LXDE,KDE,etc?

A GNOME 3 minimal install can help.

However If you want a really lighting fast DE, why not consider openbox/fluxbox/elementary.

Or maybe moving to a tiling window manager like awsm.

I was jumping distros every few months initially before I tried ElementaryOS. Haven't jumped since. It is fast, minimal and has what you want. Do check it out.

As another recommendation, I’d suggest Cinnamon (DE used by Mint). I’m
using it currently, and it has normal workspaces (Alt+Tab only
switches current workspace).

I just realized that you already knew about all the DEs, but weren’t
able to decide, and we’ve not helped one bit in helping you decide.
These links are not worth much, but they do count for something:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_X_Window_System_desktop_environments
http://www.in.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/Best-Linux-desktop-which-is-ideal-for-you/articleshow/38688280.cms

The best way to choose between DEs (in my opinion) is to actually try
them out for a dew days.

Cheers,
Nemo
