Is better to upgrade ubuntu from 13.10 to 14 or should i install it seperately and remove 13.10 or it doesn't matter which way i install?? Secondly, will upgrading ubuntu to 14 or installing it seperately affect my stored data on hard disk...and what data i may loose..if there is any loss??

1. Yes, you can upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04. There is no need to re-install.
2. Upgrading does not affect your stored data (that in the /home/ directory).

Even if there is no chance of data-loss, you should always take a backup before making major changes to your system, such as upgrading over versions.

Hi Mohit,

One more thing that you should know is that upgrading takes a lot of time (it depends on your laptop's configuration - but at least a few hours). You should start the upgrade only when you have a lot of time in your hand.
