Subject: ACM Speaker from ARA Tomorrow 7:30pm HEC-101
ACM Members,
We have a couple speakers tomorrow (Tuesday 4/15) from ARA at 7:30pm in room
HEC-101. I'd like to have good attendance at this meeting, since this is one
of our first functions with an outside speaker. So far, I only have 7 RSVPs.
Please tell me if you can make it. Also, keep in mind that there will be
FREE PIZZA!!! Please tell others that might not be on this mailing list and
ask them to email me if they want to come. Thanks,
Arup
PS. Here's the synopsis about the presentation:
Presenters: UCF Alums Theresa Tamash (MS in CS '04), Greg Peele (BS in CS,
Math '05), and Eric Thompson (BS in CS '07) from Applied Research Associates
Topic: We'll provide an overview of ARA and the work we do in our Orlando
office. We are divided up into 4 focus areas:
* Real-time, physics-based modeling of weapon effects
* Simulation systems and tools for evaluation and analysis
* Terrain modeling and generation for military training simulations
* Web-based training tools using Rich Internet Application
technology
We will also discuss what life as a software engineer is like, and how
students can best prepare to enter the workforce. We will also be providing
pizza and sodas for everyone.
