Character page for the playable heroes of Kingdom Rush. Note that these entries are only for their appearance as heroes; tropes relating to their role as antagonists in other games should go on Kingdom Rush Enemies.

An elven ranged hero that represents the Archers upgrade path. She is the second of three free heroes that are available to players. Origins reveals that she is a descendant of the Goddess Elynie, and the last of Aredhel's Royal Family.

  • Ambadassador: After escaping from the Gnolls in Origins, she became the elves' official ambassador to Linirea, remaining there to this day.
  • An Adventurer Is You: Alleria is a DPS hero. Specifically The Archer. Also has shades of The Beastmaster.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Her description says that she is beautiful, and her status confirms this trope.
  • Bow and Sword in Accord: As an archer, she has ranged attacks. She can also defend herself at close range with her sword.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Her character bio says that "Too many have fallen by her charming gaze", indicating that she has this effect in-universe.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In Origins, she only appears in the Royal Gardens level. She indirectly fights in the Gryphon Point level but isn't controllable.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Blonde haired, and one of the game's heroes from the very beginning.
  • Hit-and-Run Tactics: Alleria is pretty squishy. Try to keep her at a distance.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: Her wildcat, which appears to have been in her side since Origins.
  • Multishot: Her ability which is aptly named...well, Multishot. The more you level her up, the more arrows she'll shoot.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Turns out she is the only surviving member of Aredhel's royal family. Two missions in Origins are dedicated to getting her out of the capitol and to safety, but not without her shooting some of those gnoll invaders first.
  • Semi-Divine: She's a direct descendant of the Goddess Elynie, the one who created the Elven race.
  • Shout-Out: Named after elven archer Alleria Windrunner from Warcraft.

An melee hero that represents the Reinforcements upgrade path. He is the third of three free heroes that are available to players. Origins revealed that he used to be enslaved by the Gnolls to work in their bloodsydian mine.

  • An Adventurer Is You: Malik is a tank hero. Specifically The Meat Shield.
  • Area of Effect: Hammer Smash and Earthquake both do AOE damage to enemies.
  • Badass in Distress: In Origins, we see him as a slave in a Bloodsydian mine.
  • The Big Guy: His stature is the biggest among the free heroes.
  • Blatant Item Placement: Malik's hammer literally drops from the sky after you free him in the Blood Quarry.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Fights at close range with his hammer.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: In Origins, he only appears in the Blood Quarry level.
  • Heroic BSoD: After hearing the news of Vez'nan's successful conquest of Linirea, he takes a while to think as to what to do next.
  • Heroic Build: He's pretty buff.
  • Made a Slave: In the Origins level Blood Quarry we learn that Malik used to be a slave in a Bloodsydian mine.
  • Mighty Glacier: He hits harder than Sir Gerald, but is slower as a tradeoff.
  • Red Baron: In Origins we learn that Malik was not yet called "Hammerfury". He must've earned that title by kicking a lot of ass.
  • Shirtless Captives: How Malik and his fellow slaves are in Origins.
  • Shout-Out: Has quotes that are references to MC Hammer and Mr. T.
  • Slave Liberation: In order to free Malik in Origins, the player must use Thunderbolt on his captors. After that he'll pick up his trusty hammer (which falls from the sky) and join your forces as a secondary hero.
  • Those Two Guys: He and Alric are pretty much this when they are running Hammerhold.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: He goes into combat shirtless.

  • An Adventurer Is You: Bolin is a DPS hero. Specifically The Archer. Also has shades of The Mezzer.
  • Downloadable Content: Costs $0.99 in the mobile versions.
  • Hit-and-Run Tactics: Although Bolin is not as squishy as other ranged heroes, he should still be played this way.
  • Jack of All Stats: Is capable of good melee and ranged damage, Mine Layer is capable of doing AOE damage, and Tar Bomb is used for crowd control.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Although capable of melee and ranged damage, a player will find that Bolin is more useful at long range. His long range damage synergizes with his 2 abilities.
  • Mucking in the Mud: His ability Tar Bomb slows down enemy units for you to pick off.
  • Shout-Out: Has quotes that are references to Dirty Harry and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
  • Unflinching Walk: Look at his picture. Bolin knows that cool guys don't look at explosions.
  • Unlockable Content: In the Steam version, he's unlocked after completing the Coldstep Mines level.

  • An Adventurer Is You: Ignus is a DPS hero with shades of a tank. Specifically The Scrapper and The Regenerator.
  • Close-Range Combatant: While a fire user (who tend to be portrayed as range fighters due to certain stock abilities), he mostly prefers to get up close with his enemies.
  • Dash Attack: Surge of Flame has Ignus transform himself into a fireball that rushes towards enemies. Any enemies caught in the fireball's path takes damage.
  • Downloadable Content: Costs $2.99 in the mobile version.
  • Heal It With Fire: The best way to describe Frenzy. Ignus sends out a shockwave that damages enemies but heals himself.
  • Heroes Fight Barehanded: He fights at melee range by punching his enemies, although his fists are covered in flame.
  • Playing with Fire: He's a fire user and his attacks are fire-based.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: Ignus is immune to fire damage from Flareons and thermal fissures in the levels Pit of Fire and Pandaemonium, making him the ideal hero for those levels.
  • Unlockable Content: In the Steam version, he's unlocked after completing the The Wastes level.

  • Adipose Rex: He's very large from eating a lot of food and drinking many wine.
  • An Adventurer Is You: Denas is a flexible offense hero who is also capable of buffing. Specifically The Jack of All Trades and The Buffer.
  • Area of Effect: When Denas uses Catapult Barrage he marks the floor with a red X. Flaming boulders come soon after.
  • Big Fun: Look at his picture. Denas loves eating and drinking with a big smile on his face, and since he's a benevolent ruler that means he probably shares with everyone.
  • Big Good: He puts you in charge of defending the kingdom from evil. He would later be unlocked in the final level of the main campaign in the Steam version.
  • Downloadable Content: Costs $4.99 in the mobile version.
  • Formerly Fit: We can see in Origins that Denas used to be a pretty fit guy.
  • Narrator: He narrates the main campaign of Origins.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: He's the king of Linirea, but that doesn't prevent him from getting onto the battlefield alongside his subordinates.
  • Status Buff: Royal Edict temporarily gives towers bonus attack speed and damage.
  • Stout Strength: In Origins he was pretty fit, but by the time of the first game he gained a lot of weight. That still doesn't prevent him from entering the battlefield as a hero.
  • The Good King: The Big Good of the series, and king of Linirea. He's even one of the heroes.
  • Too Important to Walk: Instead of walking, Denas is carried into battle on his throne by a pair of attendants. It's probably how he got so fat.
  • Unlockable Content: In the Steam version, he's unlocked after completing the Forsaken Valley level.
  • We Used to Be Friends: He and Vez'nan used to be friends and even fought alongside each other before, such as in Origins, until Vez'nan literally got his hands on the Corrupted Tear of Elynie.

  • An Adventurer Is You: Elora is a DPS hero. Specifically The Nuker. Also has shades of The Mezzer.
  • An Ice Person: She uses ice attacks to freeze her enemies.
  • Cool Crown: She wears a small tiara that like her, is icy blue, and frozen.
  • Downloadable Content: Costs $4.99 in the mobile version.
  • Good Counterpart: To The Winter Queen. They are ladies with ice powers who share a similar looking appearance, but while Elora is fighting on Linirea's side, the Winter Queen fights against almost everyone.
  • Harmless Freezing: Permafrost slows down enemies. Elora also has a passive chance to freeze an enemy each time she attacks an opponent.
  • Kill It with Ice: "Ice Storm" rains down icicles onto the enemy.
  • Unlockable Content: In the Steam version, she's unlocked after completing the main campaign.

  • An Adventurer Is You: Oni is a DPS hero. Specifically The Blademaster.
  • BFS: Deathstrike involves merging his swords in a single massive blade used to attack the enemy.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: A guy whose name translates to Demon with a grimy armor and red glowing eyes, and yet he's on the side of the heroes.
  • Downloadable Content: He cost $4.99 in the iOS version, averted in the Steam version where he is unlocked after completing the main campaign.
  • Field of Blades: Sword Torment will cause Oni to plunge his blade in the ground, attacking all nearby enemies with sharp blades from the soil. It's the only attack which allows him to hit multiple enemies.
  • Flaming Sword: His katana swords are on fire.
  • Meaningful Name: Literally Ogre or Devil.
  • Mighty Glacier: He's quite hard-hitting in melee, but is kinda slow, and can take a while to move from one location to the other.
  • No-Sell: Oni does not take damage from the infernal combustion of demons. Infernal combustion is basically a Last Ditch Move.
  • One-Hit Kill: Deathstrike has a chance of killing the enemy instantly. The chance of instant kill does not work on boss monsters however.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: He has glowing red eyes.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Apparently he's leading a personal vendetta against the demons.
  • Samurai: Judging by his design and skillset, it's obvious that he's based on one.
  • Seppuku: His death animation has him killing himself this way after being defeated.
  • Sword Plant: How he's able to enact his Sword Torment ability.
