I do not know about this problem, but it could avoid the trouble.
After application of the following change to RELENG_8 src,
and rebuild gcc again, then x11/xscreensaver-gnome can be built,
even with "CFLAGS= -O -pipe".

I confirmed using lang/gcc42 can also avoid this problem.
Would you please tell someone apply above change ?
