Haven't heard from any users in gnome@ and I don't use Firefox. We don't
maintain gecko ports anymore, which gecko@ has taken over. You might want
to talk with them about it.

We don't maintain Thunderbird anymore, you should contact with gecko@.

>Description:
libxml2 knows too much about zlib's internals. With the upcoming
update, it would break.

I'm thinking about making the -STABLE zlib use a different ABI but
the real fix is to use gzdirect() instead of twiddling with zlib internal
bits.
>How-To-Repeat:
Update base system zlib to 1.2.4 and everything using libxml2 to read
configuration would be broken.

Try to run 'metacity --replace' to see if it will fix for you. If not,
check in the ~/.xsession-error to see if you get any error.

Please show us the build error log. Sounds like you disable X11 or cairo
when you build either cairo or pango.

I noticed also, that thunderbird is not really working over SSL either
-- only the first IMAPS connection succeeds. The subsequent ones claim a
timeout, while the server logs a message stating, that a client
"disconnected without attempting authentication".

Using linux-firefox works from the same desktop, so it is not about
network setup :-(

Something is wrong with nss, I fear...

The default one... The only "outstanding" patches I have now deal with
the NSS' self-tests, not with the library code. Same with nspr.

Looked in the www/firefox. It looks like www/firefox no longer depends on
nss port, which it uses nss in its own tarball?

The pointyhat, tinderboxes and I can't reproduce your problem. I don't
have any problem to install this port. The xmlto depends on docbook-xml by
default. You will need to give us more details by follow this:

Indeed... Running ldd on both lib/thunderbird-3.0.3/thunderbird-bin and
firefox3/firefox-bin shows, they don't link with nss (not dynamically,
anyway) at all...

Could it be that the bundled-in NSS-implementations have the same bug,
that shows up on amd64? Is anybody successfully using either of the apps
on amd64? Thanks!
