It's an e-mail alias that expands out to a list of the people who would
be interested in the problem. The essential difference between 'alias'
and 'mailing list' is that anyone can subscribe to a mailing list at
will: modifying an alias needs the good offices of postmaster@... or
someone else with appropriate administrative privileges.
