For the money, most Android tablets aren't very smart buys. At the high end, hardware is marred by less than stellar software offerings. (If you're going to spend $500 on a tablet, get an iPad.) At the low end, Amazon's Android-powered Fire tablets are hamstrung by the very limited Amazon Appstore, which doesn't include Google apps, among others.
Here's the good news: Getting the Play Store on your Fire Tablet is relatively easy, and we'll walk you through every step of the process. This guide takes you through every aspect of installing Google's app store on your device, with instructions for models dating back to 2014, up to and including the latest Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets. If you get stuck, take a deep breath and step away for a few minutes. Then, skip to the end of this post to find solutions to common problems we've noticed over the years.
If you still can't get the Play Store to work, your best option is to factory reset your tablet and try again. Make sure you don't restore from a backup when setting up the tablet unless the backup was made before you installed the Play Store.
Step 12: After installing all four APK files, you should see the Google Play Store app added to your home screen. If you don't see it, you may need to restart your tablet. From here, you can select the app, log into your Google account, and start downloading apps from the store.
Why you should buy the Amazon Fire HD 10
While the Amazon Fire HD 10 doesn't make it to our list of the best tablets, it's hard to criticize it at this price. You get a clear 10.1-inch 1080p full HD display offering more than 2 million pixels and proving to be almost 20% brighter than the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. It has a fast octa-core processor and 3GB of memory so it's capable of being used with all your favorite apps like Netflix, Facebook, Hulu, and many other streaming services.
Either way, is there a workaround, like say uninstalled the app from the Google Store and loading it via the Amazon app store? I'm about to take a long trip and was hoping to be able to purchase things using the app on my tablet. I also have a laptop and of course phone, but they're old and slow and I prefer the tablet. Not the end of the world, but kind of annoying.
Here are the links I used to successfully install the Play Store as of today, November 3rd, 2020:

Enter the app title that will be displayed in your app's listing on both the Appstore website and on devices. The display title should be brief and does not have to be the same as the App title field on the Upload Your App File screen. If you would like to refer to Amazon or any Amazon product or service (including Kindle or Fire) in the title of your app, refer to the Amazon Trademark, Brand, and Marketing Guidelines.
Enter a lengthier description of your app that is appropriate for use on the Amazon Appstore website. The maximum length is 4,000 characters. The long description appears on the Appstore website and on tablets running Fire OS 5 and higher. It doesn't appear on Fire TV devices. All text input fields (including the short description and other fields) are plain text only. Do not enter HTML markup (it will fail testing and delay your app's publishing).
This is the tutorial I used for my fire tablet. lifehacker.com - How to Get Google Play on a Kindle Fire and Install Any Android App You Want How to Get Google Play on a Kindle Fire and Install Any Android App You Want lifehacker.com
I have the Tablo App installed and working on a 2 year old Amazon Fire HD 10. Just bought a second Fire HD 10 for another family member and it will not allow the Tablo app to install, searching for the app on the Fire tablet and I cannot even find the app in the app store.
If you download Google play store on your fire tablet, you should be able to install any app from the play store on your tablet. There are many tutorials on YouTube, just select the one that works for your Fire Tablet 10 and follow the instructions. I have done this 6+ times with no issues when following instructions correctly.
Google play does not support soundcore for fire tablets.
I call bull $hit. Are you just saying it will work or did you actually try?
I checked both Google and Amazon app store neither offer soundcore for my Amazon fire HD 10. So keep to what you know bud.
In case you are not aware of this, there is a way to load the play store and the apps on the fire tab. I have been using this for over a year with no problems. A quick search will guide you through this if you need it.
I have found the Google App Store impossible to install on a fire tablet.
I have read many procedures and watched many videos of how to do it.
They were not easy, but complicated and confusing.
Can you help me install the google App Store on a fire tablet.
I need step by step instructions.
If it only take 5 or 10 minutes, then there should only be a few steps.
I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks
Once you have the setting enabled that allows you to install non-play store apps, you can think of installing .apk files as no different from how you installed Joplin on Windows - think of it like Android's version of an installer .exe file.
Medallion Class App is only available from either Apple or Google stores - Amazon doesn't have it (yet?), so in order to get Medallion Class on your fire, you would need to follow the steps outlined above. Just out of curiosity, why do you have the concern about loading Google Play on your Fire?
I don't have a smart phone (I don't want one...) so I will need to use my fire for situations where a qr code is required. If they only come out with an electronic vaccination passport, my Fire would need to be able to save and display it.
I've seen a lot of cases where cells, tablets and PCs have suddenly started acting weird when they are asked to do something their designers did not intend or envision. I agree the risk is probably slight. However, I must have a workable device for emails and for checking airline reservations while on the cruise. So I don't want to compromise may tablet. I plan on going out on a limb on this trip and leaving my laptop at home and using the tablet and an eReader instead. That way I can save a pound or two in weight and some space. I own three Fires (2 HD10s and 1 HD8) and an Amazon Kindle eReader. I had planned on bringing one HD 10 and my Kindle eReader as a backup just for reading. But I think I might bring two Fire tablets instead; I could install google play plus the Medallion app on one, so I'd have a spare in case of a crash or performance issue. I can read my ebooks easily on the Fires. I have very few apps on my Fires, and don't anticipate loading any non-Fire apps other than Medallion, so going through that hassle is....well, a hassle. ? But it may be the smart way to do things.
The Kindle fire doesn't have the Google Play store pre-installed on the device. Did you download the app from the Fire OS or the play store? As far as I know, the Google Play Store has to be manually installed with a few different files & apps may not function properly.
The google play store app was on the tablet when purchased, and the Arlo app was downloaded through there as the above picture shows. Since this tablet was purchased for the sole reason of being our baby monitor there are only 2 apps that were downloaded that were not pre-installed, one of those being the Arlo app.
Reason for the statement, is this may very well cause an app to have abnormal behavior. This may also be an older version of the Arlo app causing the issue. Have you tried to download the Arlo app through Amazon's app store on the Fire tablet?
I have an Amazon Fire tablet which I use from time to time.
As we know the "official way" to get apps on a Fire Table is via the Amazon App store.
And many apps are not on this store (don't understand why as it's still Android, but hey.....)
I did a search and found a Reolink App. But it does not look the same, esp the playback area in the screenshot.
-
So my question is. Is this App official from Reolink?
I don't want to install some 3rd party copy of the app which may be risky.
I've taken a photo:
Does this look Genuine?
Hopefully will get an answer tomorrow, even Reolink need a weekend to relax
I'm wondering if it looks different as it's an older version to the one on the Google Play Store.
-
Honestly I don't understand why almost all apps are not on the Amazon store.
Fire tablets are Android tablets, and there are millions and millions of Amazon Fire Tablet users out there.
Tens of millions probably and I don't know why anyone who makes an Android app would not put it on the Amazon store.
-
There must be some reason so many devs don't to that.
Perhaps it's Amazons fault and they block too many?
Be interesting to know why.
