Dragon City is a game that gives us the opportunity to create our own dragon hatchery that we can collect and, of course, train to face them in fights with other users. Something like going back to the time of the European colonizers who razed Africa in the 19th century and decimated its native fauna (and who followed in the 20th and 21st centuries) but instead of lions with dragons.

The original game presents us with a system in which many of the best ones must be achieved by fulfilling different objectives or, on the contrary, by the quick way that implies the purchase of objects with real money. Not so Dragon City MOD that allows us to play in a private server with unlimited resources.

This means that we won't play on the official servers but on private servers that don't belong to the developers of the game so what we get here won't have any incidence on the original game. These are the main features and functions that we will be able to enjoy with this MOD:

I spent all of last night playing on the revival project for Dragon's Dogma Online with my partner, and wow it really makes me miss my time playing it back when the servers were online in 2017 ? Even in its current form, where a lot of the old questing and story functionality is lost, just wandering around with your friends and fighting things is still a blast!

All of the combat just feels so tight and responsive and, frankly, it's put every other MMO I've ever tried to shame in comparison. Messing with the classes and hearing how playing with them has stoked a new love for these games in my partner even through this shadow of what the game once was has given me a renewed excitement for Dragon's Dogma 2; I really hope that they keep the Alchemist, High Scepter (or Runeblade/Red Mage or whatever they'll call in in an official translation) and Spirit Lancer classes - they're just so cool and unique and it's always a joy to see the way that these games manage to create new classes that feel different and still drip with style and creativity.

If you prefer to try out the different classes, rather than your choice of the four starting classes, you can use these commands (Be sure only to use these before changing zones if you use them while outside of a city, as the game needs a loading zone to finish loading in all your skills)

The central portcrystal can be interacted with to warp around the city, with Relay Craft Station being your Inn / Class Change / Skill Selection & Upgrade NPCs, and the Shopping District having gear for upgrades when your starting stuff feels lackluster

There's quite a lot that is not implemented serverside and which will result in a timeout and being kicked back to the title screen, but the basic gameplay loop of going and getting into fights with a party and upgrading your skills and gear to set out on a new challenge is still wonderful even as is!

Also: Here is the main discord for the project. It has more information about the server and information about what is/isn't implemented currently, a torrent mirror for the game files, as well as other instructions, such as for setting up private servers apart from the public test server for playing with your friends privately, especially since as a test server character data is usually wiped during updates.

Well, when it was originally up, it was fine to play solo, especially late game since you could fill up your party with pawns and equip them with heavy gear! As the current server is, you can probably solo most if not all content pretty easily with pawns, especially since you can use text commands to give yourself gold and rift crystals and go buy the old costume gear and overpowered stuff even at level 1 if you really want to!

Dragon's Dogma Online, in its original form, lived between about 2016 to December 2019 when Capcom pulled the plug on the servers, including the English patch community that had formed on World 13. In its current iteration, it's mostly just a playground to explore with friends or try out classes while fighting enemies and going after bosses; judging from the comments from the folks working on reviving it, it'll be about another year or two before they get everything up and running at the current pace.

But if you're a fan on Dark Arisen, definitely give it a try! The combat and movement feels really fluid and pleasant, and it's genuinely a joy to hang out with friends and do multiplayer Dragon's Dogma and see how classes have been tweaked; everything feels like it was thought about and given more tools to differentiate it and have a more defined party role, such as Strider/Assassin being reimagined as the Seeker - giving up the bow to allow Hunter exclusivity to that tool, while gaining more dagger-specific abilities, more mobility options, spinning blade skills and a grapple rope that allows you to launch yourself up at enemies to close the distance

The problem I'm facing is that after RC2, the runtime is unable to resolve dependencies for DI, so that it throws exceptions on the Configure method for the Startup class. The system does however start up if I start the actual server (not the test project). The exception thrown is as following:

But after this the integration test EndPointsRequiresAuthorization goes through the dependency injection, and for me it fails with an exception in ShikashiBotManager, I guess because I don't have the Postgre DB set up.
For you it already fails before this, because it cannot resolve the IShikashiBotManager interface, right?

It's pretty neat! I was playing with it on test. It copies your current costume and spawns three copies.

Fun little tidbit: If you change costumes in the middle of the summoning animation, any Decoys spawned after will take on your new appearance! If you switch from one costume without the copies to one that does, instead you get normal phantoms, but they're all the same body and colors as your 2nd costume. I tried my best to break it and get 3 different looking decoys, but to no avail.

Speaking of that I'm still hopeful the Mastermind pet changes will be extended to controller pets (at least the part where ranged pets try to stay at range). Come to think of it though, phantasm might be the only controller pet that really is "ranged only", or should be anyway.

Singularity is theoretically ranged-only. Its only melee-range effect is a knockback that is intended to throw mobs away so that they're not in melee anymore. A lot of players have slotted a KB to KD IO into it and use it as a repeated knockdown power, which is great... but I think that conceptually you could easily argue that Singularity is intended as a range-only pet and should use the same AI that keeps it from advancing to melee.

This is amazing. I hope one day we can assign costume files to that power. So say, a Goblin Queen, could summon a bunch of little male goblin minions. ? This is leaps and bounds better than the tights however and will make me start playing Illusion again!

As an example - it took a lot of doing to make this happen and even so, I have to costume change to the form I want, then cast Phantom Army, then change back. It's cool but it's a lot of setup. I hope we one day are able to assign the costume slot to the pet power (great for certain Mastermind pets too, where applicable).

Id hope thats where it will end up. Wont be "choose a costume file" because those are local on your machine but "choose a costume slot" should be possible (allowing for the standard code rant because there might be weirdness serverside).

[Bullitt Time : DP/Kin Corruptor] [Carnifax : Ill/Dark Controller] [Kerriae : Plant/Storm Controller] [Echinoderm : Bio/Spines Tank] [Iron Brew : Mace/Rad Brute] [Snookered : Staff/NRG Brute] [iScream : Ice/Ice Scrapper] [Binman : Savage/Shield Stalker] [Modul-8 : Time/Sonic Defender] [Concussion Blast : Fire/NRG Domi] [Orblivion : Dark/Martial Domi] [Mombie : Necro/Nature MM] [Tempore : Water/Time Blaster] [Thermodynamic Flux : Ice/Fire Blaster]

Agreed - not files but slots would work. Someone in my official feedback thread on the subject said that it could even be a pre-determined slot, like Slot 1. Then we select Mirror or Mirror Custom for example (or Phantom Mirror Custom in order to get the FX attached). That would work as well as a limited implementation of the concept

Blizzard Entertainment continues its World of Warcraft: Dragonflight preview series with a tour the city of Valdrakken, home of the legendary dragonflights. The city is located in the region of Thaldraszus both of which are now available for testing on the alpha test server.
