Hello everyone,
I wanted to share that we’re currently in production on a documentary about Lua as part of Cult.Repo’s Origin Stories series, which focuses on the human stories behind influential open-source technologies.
The film explores Lua’s origins, its evolution, and the people and communities that shaped it over the years. We’re already speaking with some of the language’s creators and contributors, but we strongly believe Lua’s story is also told through the experiences of the people who used it, extended it, and relied on it in meaningful ways.
For context, past documentaries in the series include:
Vite: The Documentary – https://youtu.be/bmWQqAKLgT4
Python: The Documentary – https://youtu.be/GfH4QL4VqJ0
React: The Documentary – https://youtu.be/8pDqJVdNa44
If you’re part of this group and there’s a moment, project, use case, or personal experience with Lua that you feel is important to its history — something you think should not be forgotten — we’d love to hear about it. This could be technical, cultural, personal, or unexpected.
You’re welcome to reply here, or reach out privately if you prefer.
Thanks for your time, and thank you for everything you’ve contributed to Lua over the years.
Best,
Felipe Melo
