Hi,

Great to see you've got this far with Lua. I'm sure interest will pick up even more now that Alchemy is being re-released by Adobe.

I've been looking for a project like yours for Python, but haven't managed to find anything yet.

Have any of you had any experience in getting a Python interpreter running in Alchemy, or know anyone who has?

Thanks,

Ben Sand

Thank you for the kind words. We hope so too.

No, I did not have any experience with that or know anyone. If you
will find something, please do share the information.

Try Lua — you'll like it :-)

Best regards,
Alexander.

When I started to prototype LuaAlchemy I also tried Python and Ruby.  Both of them were a giant pain in the ass to get working in Alchemy.  The Lua interpreter code is very clean (written in clean C after all) and made to be embedded.  Python and Ruby aren't made to be embedded.  Python's embedding and C binding is especially painful.

I also tried some Lisp variants which worked nicely... but decided to use Lua because the language was more approchable for most than Lisp.

Lua is a great language.  I had little interest in Lua before starting LuaAlchemy but now I love the language.
