Subject: {OzArch} EOI - Eureka, UWA

Eureka seeks Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified archaeologists to participate in heritage surveys for Indigenous archaeological sites in remote areas of Western Australia. Ideally, candidates will have good knowledge and skill in the recognition and recording of stone artefacts and one or more years' experience in Indigenous Australian archaeology or maritime. Successful applicants will be hired on a casual basis for field and office based work.

Essential
Honours level qualification in archaeology
Experience in archaeological site identification, survey, excavation, recording and assessment
Experience in report writing
Ability to work with Aboriginal people in remote areas
Ability to participate in research projects including analysis of archaeological material

Desirable
Ability to work in remote areas
Class A drivers licence (manual)
capacity to work to tight deadlines within budget restraints
able to work independently and as part of a team
appropriate professional memberships
familiar with relevant Western Australian and Commonwealth legislation
GPS competence

Eureka Archaeological Research and Consulting is an archaeological consulting unit within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at The University of Western Australia. Eureka offers a full range of archaeological services relating to Indigenous and European cultural heritage. We provide independent professional archaeological services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, the private sector and government bodies.

Applicants should be professional and enthusiastic and prepared to work collegially in a challenging and varied role within the consultancy.
