Dear David,

More and more news outlets are reporting that it’s been ten years since the financial crisis and hardly anything’s changed. [1] By organising a big rally on the anniversary of the start of the financial crash, and crowdfunding for a poll revealing the public don’t trust the banks - together we’re starting to cause a stir.
The rally is happening outside the Bank of England at midday on 15th September. The stellar lineup of speakers includes John McDonnell MP, Paul Mason, Green MEP Molly Scott-Cato MEP, Deputy Leader of the SNP Kirsty Blackman MP, Occupy, Sisters Uncut and more.
Positive Money local groups around the UK and activist groups all over Europe are organising events and street stalls to mark the anniversary too. We’re all part of a big #ChangeFinance campaign - check out all the events happening on this map! .
Fancy raising awareness in your local area too? Then don’t be shy to “click to host” your own event or stall. Give the Positive Money office team a call on 02072533235 and we can help you plan a street stall or public meeting in your local area.
If you’re not one for events, get ready for an exciting online calculator we’re launching with a funny video next Thursday. Thanks to hundreds of Positive Money supporters who chipped in, we’ve teamed up with creative filmmakers to shoot a spoof advert inviting people to find out how much compensation they’re owed because of the financial crisis and austerity.
The video’s both funny and angering to help us all raise the alarm about the shocking injustice of the last decade of broken policies. But the calculator is dead serious. Our researchers have been working hard to calculate how much money individuals and households have lost because of the crash.
With your help, sharing the video with as many friends, family, and neighbours as possible, we could reach thousands of people and cause a BIG stir in the media. It could go viral: picture Good Morning Britain sofa debates, Radio 5live phone-ins and Question Time.
As many of us as possible need to share the video and calculator next Thursday when we launch it. So please look out for our email!
It’s amazing what a small group of like-minded people can do when we work together. Thank you for being part of it.
Rachel, Fran and the rest of the Positive Money team
