Good afternoon,
I am contacting you to forward a paid social science and economics fellowship position with the U.S. Forest Service for a current or recently (within 5 years) graduated M.S. or Ph.D. student. I have your contact information listed as either a current or former dean or department head for a relevant field of study for this opportunity. If you are not the appropriate contact to share this information among qualified candidates at your institution, will you please forward it and respond to me with that person’s contact information?
The Social Science and Economics Fellowship is now available with the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station and Washington Office. This fellowship is offered through the graduate or recent graduate fellowship program of the U.S. Department of Energy ORISE program (https://www.zintellect.com/Opportunity/Details/USDA-USFS-PNWRS-2024-0178). A monthly stipend will be provided and this position can be remote. Details of the position are provided in the attachment and also through the ORISE program portal link.
The Social Science and Economics Fellow will participate in research to better measure and describe how people use U.S. forests for recreation. The Fellow will contribute their skills in statistics, economics, or social science to research that improves our approaches to monitoring recreation use and describing the economic implications of recreation for people and communities. Research efforts will focus primarily on the Forest Service National Visitor Use Monitoring Program and associated data but will also include community science and digital mobility data gathered through novel approaches.
Those with questions may reach out Dr. Eric White (eric.m...@usda.gov) or Dr. Sarah Cline (sarah...@usda.gov).
Thanks,
