LDWF is accepting applications for the Biologist Supervisor for the Nature & Science Center in Lake Charles, LA:
This position is in the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Nature and Science Center at Port Wonder. This position performs work necessary to provide supervision of duties at the Center including basic daily animal care, husbandry practices such as life support and water quality maintenance, and scheduling of staff and volunteers. In addition, this position will be coordinating outreach and education activities at the Center.
Ideal Candidate
• Has experience in aquarium, wildlife, or animal care settings (public aquariums, zoos, fisheries, or similar)
• Comfortable managing both people and operations (staff, volunteers, daily facility needs)
• Strong understanding of basic animal husbandry and water quality systems (or ability to learn quickly)
• Organized and able to balance multiple moving pieces (animal care, scheduling, programming, outreach)
• Communicates well with supervision, staff, volunteers, and the public
• Ability to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions independently
• Able to plan and support volunteer program, educational programming and outreach events
• Flexible and dependable, including weekends or non-traditional hours when needed
