The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Biologist 1-3 position in the Marine Fisheries Coastal Study Area 7 in Lake Charles, LA. This position is responsible for collection of fishery independent and dependent data from sample monitoring programs. The incumbent will conduct field sampling, collect and maintain biological and environmental data, operate and maintain vessels and sampling equipment, collect fishery dependent survey data, and assist in developing aquatic habitat restoration projects.
This Biologist position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and is advertised to be filled as a Biologist 1, 2, or 3. The level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a baccalaureate degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries management, animal science, forestry, natural resources, or conservation. Applicants may apply 90 days prior to receipt of their degree; however, the effective date of the appointment cannot be prior to the graduation date.
