We are hiring a part-time student service contractor to collaborate on a long-term monitoring and adaptive management program related to barrier island restoration. This position will have flexibility with class and field schedules. We are looking for a current student or recent graduate to assist with data analysis, GIS and remote sensing, and report compilation and review.  Could you please send this announcement out via the department list serve or to students you think may be interested?  The position information is listed below. In order to be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, graduate student, or have graduated with an undergraduate degree within the past year. This position will provide part-time support to the project titled “Mississippi Coastal Improvements Program (MsCIP).” This is a long-term adaptive management and monitoring project partnered with the USACE. The position will help with project activities including, but not limited to: (1) report review and compilation; (2) data compilation and management; (3) data analysis with geospatial data and satellite imagery; (4) figure and table preparation; (5) verbal and written communication of results; (6) meetings with collaborators, both in-person and on-line; and (7) rarely fieldwork for ground-truthing or site visits. The proposed start date would be December 2023/January 2024. The student should have experience and a strong interest in geography, biology, and/or environmental science.
