The Longleaf Alliance has an exciting funding opportunity for your graduate students in forestry, ecology, natural resources, and related fields.
We are now accepting applications for The Owen Fellowship, a $20,000 graduate student scholarship supporting advanced research that contributes to the protection, management, and restoration of the longleaf pine ecosystem.

September 1, 2025 – January 23, 2026
About the Fellowship
Now in its third round, The Owen Fellowship is offered in conjunction with the 16th Biennial Longleaf Conference, taking place October 27–30, 2026, in Williamsburg, VA. The selected Fellow will:

Who Should Apply
Graduate students whose research will advance understanding of the longleaf pine ecosystem—ecology, genetics, physiology, restoration, conservation, or related disciplines—are strongly encouraged to apply. Examples of current and past awardees’ work are highlighted in the attached flyer, including research on genetic diversity and longleaf pine physiological processes.
