OAK RIVER FARMS – SUMMER 2020 INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY – GILBERT, LA
Oak River Farms is an agriculture property management company that operates in the midsouth. We have land holdings in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Our property management division works alongside our farming operation and tenants to ensure the highest quality of irrigation, land, and farming practices are executed. This is the 5th year of Oak River Farms summer internship program.
Job Description: Interns will be assisting the property management, farming team, and tenants in the application of precision irrigation techniques. Responsibilities may include gathering irrigation information such as groundwater well flow rates and water samples; assisting in the implementation of GIS mapping on Oak River Farms properties; assisting in the development and implementation of irrigation plans for various crops and producers through Pipe Planner.
By the end of the internship, the intern will have an increased understanding of mapping techniques, precision irrigation, and the effects on crop production and property management.
Internship Date: Summer 2020
Location: Tensas River Plantation - Gilbert, LA. Potential tasks may include traveling to any of our farms in the delta region.
Pay Rate: To Be Determined Transportation & Housing: Provided
Requirements: Must be a college sophomore or above for the 2019-2020 school year, studying in a field of agriculture. Preferred interest (but not required) would be related to water, water quality, and precision irrigation/precision agriculture. Experience with ArcGIS and/or Pipe Planner would be valuable but not required.
