I got this in my email & figured it wouldn't hurt to post it here. If
anybody wants to respond to this guy, his email address is
chaplain...@yahoo.com.

Hi... I am presently living here in England at this time and am today
using a friends computer to send this email to you as for some time
now I have been trying to trace a certain Marine who himself served
onboard the USS LAMOURE COUNTY (LST-1194), when she docked in
Edinburgh, Scotland, along with the USS John F. Kennedy who stood off
Edinburgh at anchor in the River Forth also just off Edinburgh during
either 1976 or 1977, I can however now only remember the Surname of
this certain Marine who's surname was "Severons," but I can always
remember that most of the night whilst on Princes Street in Edinburgh,
"Severons," done nothing more than pull banana after banana from the
inside pocket of his jacket whilst we enjoyed orselves... we him and I
became real good friends whilst the LAMOURE COUNTY was in Edinburgh, I
myself later going on to enlisting in the Navy, later becoming nothing
more than a chaplain, what the Brit's/English here call a "Sky pilot,"
and as I have always wondered of the where abouts or what happened to
my friend "Severons," I have always meant to find out where he is now
and how he is, my email address is chaplain...@yahoo.com, if you
or anyone you know of or knew of the where abouts of "Severons, USMC,"
or could put me in touch again with him or could maybe even supply me
with either his email address and or phone number I would be very
greatful to here from either you or whom ever, hoping that you may be
able to help, thank you, Godbless...

Wow, we were there for sure. I don't remember any of the Marines' names, but
his sticks out for some reason. I will look through the cruise books I have
and see what I can find. I will at least email him and thank him for that
trip down memory lane. What a story. The banana man... hmmm.

Actually, we were there in 78. Someone on the ship could have still been stationed aboard though. Were you? I arrived onboard December of '76 then the ship went into the yards in Philly for over haul. Maybe she had returned from that cruise just before I arrived? All the same, an interesting story.

Too early for me, I served onboard The Lady from 82 - 85. A short time, but a great time none the less.

Yea I remember you, Huebner, Chief Savage, Spencer … I’m looking at the cruise book right now. Flash back memories. We had a blast on the Lady didn’t we?  How have you been? Damn it’s been a long time. Hope all is well with you.

Woolsey,

Do you recall an OS by the name of John Halstead or a Deck Ape named Burger?

Damn Jim, It’s about time. Pete Asaro here. A long time I my might add. I’ve been sending you emails but they must getting lost in cyber space. Great to here from you. I have been kicking that Reunion idea around for a while. I just became overwhelmed with work and personal things for the last year or so. I have started to put together an Excel data base with all the names I pulled from the 2 cruise book (’78 & ’79).  I will send what I have, so far, to you in an email. Please email me at pas...@san.rr.com.  It’s so cool to get in touch with old friends. I’m also on Facebook, Myspace, and Classmates. Any one else out there please get in touch so I can update this file. I would like to get the ball rolling again on the Reunion. I just heard from read an email from Alan Harned from A-gang yesterday.

I came on board when she was in dry dock in Philly - spring of '77 -
and got off in Rota at the end of the '79 Med cruise. I'm pretty sure
we were in Edinburgh twice (pulled into Inverkeithing and took the
train to the city if I remember right). Fenn Horton (SM) and I
started out to see the castle both times, I think, but never made it -
too many pubs along the way. One of my favorite liberty ports. I
rarely spent time with Marines when we were in port. Actually, the
one stop in Scotland we had probably dropped them off somewhere (maybe
Denmark?) and the other time we may have been on the way back from
"Uncover Ambush" when we didn't have any on board (just some spooks in
a trailer on the fantail).
