Subject: 8th floor Grad Student Writing/Productivity Group?
Date: April 9, 2012 8:41:52 PM EDT
Hi gang,
I am writing to see if there would be any interest in scheduling a regular time for us to meet and have a writing group. The goal for this is simply to occupy a room somewhere and, through the power of social modeling and peer pressure, be super productive writers. Of course, it may be handy to have other smart people on hand to occasionally ask for suggestions/feedback/help/moral support, but the main point is just get some work done. What do you all think? I have set writing as the main focus, because I know we all probably have manuscripts/milestone documents we could be working on, but I think this might also be a useful productivity time (I am going to be coding a lot of verbal transcriptions soon, for example).
Let me know how that sounds! I think we'd probably want to hold off on starting this until the semester ends, between end-of-the-semester craziness and conference travel for some us (AERA is this week). If there is enough interest, I can set up a whenisgood to figure out what time works for everyone. In my head, I'm thinking maybe 2 hour blocks twice a week, but am open to suggestions.
Best,
Dan
P.S. I am emailing some of the 8th floor Grad Students, but feel free to pass this along to other grad students, as well, be they 8th floor or not :).
