I'm sure LSAP students could go if they ask nicely. ;)

Subject: Conference on Socializing Intelligence Through Talk and Dialogue

Dear PSLC-ers,

We would like to draw your attention to an exciting research conference that will be held at LRDC from Sept 22-25. Titled Socializing Intelligence through talk and dialogue", this conference will bring together scholars from several different research traditions that have studied the role of talk and dialogue in (classroom) learning, as well as several leading scholars from outside these traditions, to collaboratively explore some of the strongest outcomes of participation in academic talk and to discuss ways in which the unresolved or unexplored issues in this field should be addressed in future research and with new technologies. The conference is primarily sponsored by AERA, with additional support from PSLC, LRDC and the Pitt School of Education.

The programme is attached to this mail.

There is no cost to register for this conference. However, we do need to know in advance which session(s) you would like to attend. This is an invitational working research conference, organized to promote maximum participation of participants. We have venues that are limited in size so we can accommodate a limited number of invitees in a given session. NOTE: Final numbers for University Club catering are due this Thursday, September 15th. If you are interested in joining us for lunch, we need to hear from you by the end of the day Thursday.

Please reply to Tara Hofkens at hofk...@pitt.edu indicating which session(s) you would like to attend. We will confirm your registration with you by the end of the week.

When you are registered, we will provide access to the preliminary papers for that session. You will need to have looked at them to be able to follow the discussion, since the amount of information that will be shared is large and presentations will be short to allow plenty of opportunity for discussion.

We hope you can join us!

Lauren Resnick, Christa Asterhan & Sherice Clarke
