Looking For Assistance

Hello, dears. 

I am performing indentation experiments on polymeric foam and have obtained a force–indentation response in terms of vertical (y-direction) displacement. However, the resulting indentation depth curve exhibits noticeable oscillations or irregular “bumps.” I am unsure of the underlying cause of this behavior. Could you please advise on the possible reasons for this response and suggest appropriate methods to obtain a smoother, more physically representative curve?

I assume you are using the explicit solver, rather than the implicit solver?

 

Try reducing the loading rate by a factor between ~2-5.    --len
