Hello All,

A composite column is being modeled using the Karagozian & Case (K&C) concrete damage model. The column comprises steel profiles encased in concrete and is subjected to axial compression between rigid upper and lower platens. In the numerical analysis, compressive loading is applied to the upper platen through a gradually increasing low-velocity displacement. The eroding_single_surface contact formulation is employed to define the interactions among the upper platen, lower platen, steel profile, and concrete. However, upon initiating the analysis, the concrete exhibits immediate and unrealistic cracking behavior. Even with a displacement as small as 0.001 mm applied to the upper platen, the concrete undergoes complete fragmentation and dispersal. Similar contact definitions have been successfully utilized in previous analyses without encountering such anomalies. Any insights or recommendations to address this issue would be valuable.

Best regards.
