Dear Al:
I am modeling a simple problem of holow square pyramidal box impacted by a plate. Both are modeled as Shells.
The plate is a shell surface in the x-y plane and has been given an x-velocity of -5 m/s to move towards the box, which is fixed at its bottom.
The plate is, however, moving in the positive x-direction, that is, away from the box.
Could someone please suggest why it might be happening? I am enclosing the keyword file herewith.

The normals on your plate shell elements point in the Negative x-direction.

The initial velocity acts on shells in the direction of the shell normals.

However, you have specified a negative (-5.0) value for the initial velocity.

These two negatives (normal and value) equate to positive motion of the plate.                            --len
