Hi everyone,

I’m working on a cyclic loading model for a steel column using the implicit solver.

The issue is that the simulation stops early when the mesh reaches the failure strain (around 12,700 ms), while my termination time is set to 17,000 ms. I want the analysis to continue until the full termination time, not stop at failure strain.

At the same time, I need to keep erosion active so that elements are deleted after failure.

The material is defined as *MAT_PLASTIC_KINEMATIC, and I’m using standard CONTROL cards for implicit analysis (as shown in the attached images).

Any idea how to prevent early termination while still allowing element erosion?

Thanks in advance. 🙏

Here is the link to the full model, including all outputs and logs. If you have a moment, could you please take a look and let me know where the error might be? I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot!
