Hello,
When performing contact between shells or shell/solid, I noticed that there is always initial penetrations if the parts are already in contact (a bloc on top of a plate for instance).
The default parameters of the card *CONTROL_CONTACT take into account the mid-thickness of the shell elements. Consequently, there are a lot of initial penetration. The original shape of the parts might be altered due to the initial penetration corrections by the solver (the nodes are translated to avoid initial penetration).
However, the initial penetration can be ignore by modifying the parameters of *CONTROL_CONTACT.
Which approach is more recommended :
1- Keep the parts in contact in the original mesh but ignore the initial penetrations in the *CONTROL_CONTACT keywords
2- Add offset in the original mesh between parts that are in contact from the beginning.
Thanks in advance
