Particle Blast methode

Hello everyone,
I use the particle blast method to simulate the explosion of a mine buried in the ground and the interaction with a Lagrangian structure above the soil. 
In the d3plot file, as shown in the figure (right), part of the soil particles (Discrete element sphere) are removed at t=0ms. 
What do you think this is due to and does it affect the calculation.

This paper presents a particle blast method (PBM) to describe blast loading. The PBM is an extension of corpuscular method (CPM), which is coarse-grained multi-scale method developed for ideal gas dynamics simulation.  It is based on the kinetic molecular theory, where molecules are viewed as rigid particles obeying Newton’s laws of mechanics, while each particle in the particle method represents a group of gas molecules.  Pressure loading on structures is represented by particle-structure elastic collisions.  The corpuscular method has been applied to airbag deployment simulation where the gas flow is slow.  For blast simulation where gas flow is extremely high, the particle method has been improved to account for the thermally non-equilibrium behavior.  Furthermore, to better represent gas behavior at high temperature, covolume effects have been considered.  The particle blast method could be coupled with discrete element method, make it possible to model the interaction among high explosive detonation products, the surrounding air, sand and structure:

This paper presented two meshless methods: particle blast method (PBM) and discrete element method (DEM). The PBM was developed based on corpuscular method with intention to model the gaseous behavior of high velocity, high detonation products. Upon reformulating the particle interaction algorithm that is capable of modeling thermally non-equilibrium systems, blast loading simulations became possible. The DEM focuses on the modeling of the granular media:
