Hi all, I bought a MadMan EMS1 a few years ago and decided to install it over the weekend.

Am having a problem with the EGT probe.

The EMS1 came with the thermocouple and the steel plate to replace the existing cover on the 300Tdi manifold.

The plate is pre-tapped but I can’t get the brass connector turned in there.

The compression fitting does not thread in properly and even forcing it on after less than 2 turns I know it’s going to break the threads, and it is not at the right angle either.

Also the compression fitting is neither an 11 nor a 12 socket?

Do I have the wrong plate?

Thanks

Renzo

The threads look like a mix between 1/4"NPT 18threads per inch (tapered male) and 1/4"BSP 19 threads per inch (threaded hole in plate). Common error and cause for many stripped and seized threads.

I went to see Brian Cotton yesterday morning and he changed the compression fitting to a steel one of the right thread – thank you Brian.

Ciao
