Composite head gasket

Hi Guys,

 

When refitting the head to my series motor last weekend, I must have damaged the gasket, requiring me to replace it. In the past I have always used copper gaskets, and they have a marking as to which side is the top. This time however I got a composite gasket, and it doesn’t.

 

So, does the side with the metal strip linking the “cylinder cutouts” (the holes that go over the cylinders), face the top or the bottom? I am assuming they face down.
