300tdi turbo

I had to get a new serpentine belt so popped in at LP4A in Midrand this afternoon.

While I was there I asked about a turbo replacement. Straightforward Garrett as currently fitted. No stock at the moment but about R9.5k. Salesperson said it is just the turbo, I need to pull the branches from the existing turbo and fit them. But I was under the impression that the turbo comes with the exhaust manifold already fitted?

Thanks Jakes but this is greek to me. Who is Stallion and why go VNT route? Engine has over 300K km so I don’t see how a bigger/different turbo will help. And, what else do I need to change to make this work.

They put a hybrid variable vane turbo on the 300TDi, reduces turbo lag and increases overall boost slightly.

Since you're replacing it anyway...........

A VNT was one of the best mods on my old tdi which had between 400 and 500k km on it.  Low down torque was amazing making offroad and sand driving a pleasure

At one point I thought I needed a turbo and in my research these guys
came up:

They do new and exchange units. Didn't need them in the end but they
seem to have a good rep.

I had a refurb of a Turbo done in S Pretoria and got a fair discount by not having the actuator worked on./ replaced.
