Heya

Can somebody help me configure my laptop so that I can access the ECU
VPN network? I'm currently running Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid).

I have tried to change the proxy settings in Firefox, and have also
tried to create a VPN connection through Network Manager. Have I
missed something real simple?

I don't usually use the VPN at uni, because snap2 and the guild server
work fine with any distro of Ubuntu (as many as we've tried, anyway),
but it would be handy if I could.

Cheers.

Hey,

There is a small fix for it see below:

Step1: create a new vpn account in network manager.
Step2: enter your username i/e : ads\destine and the gateway :
vpn.ecu.edu.au
Step3: select advanced settings
Step4: deselect all the enryptionj methods except mschapv2
Step5: use p-p encryption @ 128 and allow stateful encryption
Step6: open terminal
Step7: type gconf-editor the hit enter
Step8: Select system -> networking -> connections
Step9: here you will see a list of connections numbering from 1 and
up, find one that contains vpn.
Step10: click on "vpn" and check for the one you created. you should
see "vpn.ecu.edu.au" under the column name "gateway"
--------------------- Continue steps 9 and 10 until you find the right
connection-----------------------------------------------------------------
Step11: Once you have found the right one, change "require-mppe" to
no
Step12: close the windows and try to connect.
