It was a pleasure meeting everybody at the meeting today!

I have a recommendation, which I think will guide us in the right
direction.

It would be better if everyone gets a chance to introduce themselves
at the event by telling their name, profession and what they are
expecting from the meeting.

We will be able to form a stronger group thereby.

Cheers

Abhinandan,

Thank you for coming out last night and especially for your input!
Being the fledgling that the LR chapter of Green Drinks is, it is very
important to us to get the feedback from you guys so that LRGD can be
the organization Little Rock wants. I think you have a great idea and
I'd like to get feedback from others to see if they agree. We can
always try it!

The most important thing is that people have enough time to mingle
around, so we have to strike the balance of just enough formal
speaking time with mingle time. What about people posting what they
expect from Green Drinks here on the Google Group in their profile,
and then at meetings we can go around and state name and business. I
think that would save us some time. People really like the 1 minute
pitch, whre random names are drawn and people get to come up and make
a quick one minute announcement. We are considering doing away with
the formal 15 minute speaker and just doing more one minute pitches,
that would open up pmore time for us to introductions from each
person.

What do you think?

Personally I think that the further you move Green Drinks from a
social networking, have a great time and a few drinks type event and
into a stuffy meeting where people talk about their job, who they are,
and why they are there, then you are likely to lose a lot of people.
After spending all day at work and in meetings, most people will want
a place to go where they can relax, have a few drinks, and mingle with
like-minded folks. Maybe it would help to see how the other Green
Drinks groups do their thing, and create a premise for the LR chapter?
Just my 2 cents.

I agree Amber.  I think this should be a casual event.  We can interact with one another and answers those questions (who, what, where) in conversation.  It's a good way to start a converstation and something to keep a conversation going when you have just met someone.

Keep it simple.

I agree.  I'd also like to maybe have the sign-in sheet be really big so that we can kind of glance and see who is here (names and organizations).  We could do this with a big piece of newsprint/cardboard on the bulletin board or a flip chart.
I agree that the less structured the better.  The speaking seems to get in the way of networking.  Speakers would be good during the day, but after work, we all just want to talk and drink!
Maybe we could have a featured person that everybody needs to meet while they are there?
Keep up the great work!

The board is a good idea but in actuality, I barely have room to store the small amount of stuff we use at each LRGD. They are going to have to glance over the sign in sheet that we have at every Green Drinks.  There is never supposed to be more than 20 minutes of speaking at LRGD which leaves 1hr and 10 min give or take for mingling.  Jeri and I have decided that we are only going to allot for 5-7 one minute pitches at the April gathering- so techncally 10 minutes of organized speaking, and see how that goes.  We will request that people give their undivided attention at that time because there are announcements that need to be heard by everyone, and people like that part. They are quick and have an energetic feel. I think that small amount of structure is do-able. I would like to play with the format a little and retrospectively compare what people like best. If people want to utilize the networking benefit, they can also put a more descriptive profile on the Google Group.  Green Drinks operate differently all over the place, we'll figure out the structure for LR...thank you for your input!!!!
