Hellow everyone!

My query is bit related to licencig term more over to technical
contenxt.

I have reffered HP sites and some other blogs and gather some info
with regards to Loadrunner lic terms.

Amongs the diff lic terms 1 is 'Virual User Days' lic term, refer
http://h30501.www3.hp.com/t5/HP-LoadRunner-and-Performance/Explained-Virtual-User-Days-quot-a-day-in-the-life-of-a-virtual/ba-p/6964

I have understand the all kind of licence terms provided by HP for
load runner.

I need bit more info with regards to ‘Virtual User Days’ lic terms.
If i have taken 1000 VUDays then can i use it in following manner,

# On first day set to 100 vusers and run test for around 4 hours for
FIRST Application under Test. So it will decrement the remainging VUDs
to 900.

# Now on the same day if i again run the test with 100 vusers for
SECOND Application under test, then is it again decrement the 100 VUDs
from remaining VUDs or it’s allow to consider that as 100 VUD for the
full day with multiple application test runs?

Thanks in advance for your guidance and support!
Please let me know if you need more infor regarding my question from
my end.

Thanks & regards,
Dipak

A vuser day is the right to execute a single user for up to 24 hours. If
you run the same 100 user test again within the same 24 hour window then you
will make use of the already checked out 100 VUDs as opposed to going back
to the pool for new VUDS. Now, if you go to 150 virtual users within the
same 24 hour system, then you will be using 100 of your existing VUDS plus
50 of the new VUDs. Or you could execute 1000 users for up to 24 hours
after your first test (assuming no smaller tests before that)

Hi James,

Thanks for your reply.

Please find the definition of VDU
"Virtual User Days are the licensing mechanism that allows Virtual
Users to be executed in an unlimited number of runs against a SINGLE
AUT within a single 24-hour period of time."

The textbook description of a Virtual User Day lic given in HP blog
states that it allow to run Single Application under test withing a
day.

My query is what will happen if i managed to run two test run (each of
4 hour and 100 vusers) with two different APPLICATIONS UNDER TEST
withing same day. Is it considere it as 100 VUDays or 200 VUDays as i
have run the two different test with two different APPLICATIONS
withing a same day.

Please let me know if you need more info from my end.

Thanks,
Dipak

Your answer seems self-evident given the description from HP and your number
of apps. You could always call a sales rep for HPO or your VAR. Typically
when a sale is on the line an answer will arrive very quickly.

@Dipak 'Single application' sounds a bit confusing, an application may have links to external application. What about them? Will such applications linked to primary application fall outside VUD license ?

It most likely means a single test scenario including monitored machines, test scripts and so on. I can't see how they could restrict it to a single SUT otherwise
