AJAX Protocol Alternate

I am trying to perform tests on an AJAX based application. Is there any alternate way to script an AJAX based application using other than AJAX Truculent protocols in HP LoadRunner 11.52?

Thinking architecturally, from the lowest layer of the OSI model to the highest

5-6.  Winsock

6-7.  HTTP

7.  TruClient

7.  Citrix

7   RDP

7   GUI Virtual User

Ask yourself, architecturally, how do you know that you absolutely require Ajax TruClient?  What is the compelling technical item which dries this on your site/server (independent of third party web site integration on your application mashup )?  If none exists, then go elsewhere in terms of protocol
