Hi All,

I have a web script recorded in LR 9.0 and for the test i have
Controller 8.1 . would i be able to run the 9x version script in the
downgraded controller version. If so will the run be successful and
consequently would i be able to analyze the results properly in the
lower controller version. would appreciate any advice on the same!

Regards
Selvam

Lr updated versions have varitey of enhancements and improved
capabilities whic can result in newer functions on scripts created.

Answer tonyour Qn depends on the protocol and tool enhancements on
higher version compared to older version. But incase of Analysis and
Lg versions it is needed that they belong to version same as
controller the tests are run on.

Tnx

For scripts my experience so far seems to be mostly the same. There
are some caveats though - some functions exist in LR9+ that do not
exist in 8. Notable examples would be the lr_paramarr_* functions that
they added.

However, the story is completely different when it comes to controller
scenario's, results and analysis files. Mix versions there at your own
peril. Especially the latter, I've seen analysis files get completely
clobbered due to conversion errors and similar problems.

Floris

If you run into issues, do not expect support from hp. 8.1 is out of support and generally scripts are only considered forward compatible not back.

Oh, it's fairly rude to post the same question to multiple forums. If you want a faster response then take advantage of your support agreement and call hp

even worse: mismatch in the version of loadrunner components during load test! ;)

There is a larger process/philosophical issue at play here.   Why would someone knowingly and deliberately include something in their test bed which is not recommended, supported and has unknown performance in their performance test bed?    I guess my mother, the second grade teacher, might call this a teachable moment.....

Right we were just looking for options because the new version of LR
9.1 expired and the other machine having controller 8.1 version had
the license still and i need to wait for some more time to get 9x
version controller !
so i was anxious to know if that would be feasible with a lower
version. This is just for some preparatory tests- not the final one!
thanks all
