web_set_max_html_param_len: set it to a number of my choice before starting to record

Hello everybody

I've recorded some scripts of an application that uses ICE Faces
technology: from a mere LR perspective it means to deal with lots of
"SaveState" parameters, some of which are really big (more than 140000
digits).
The scripts are already correlated and they work fine but, in order to
avoid doing manual correlation for each script the next time, inside
"Recording Options/HTTP properties/Correlation" I've created a new
application and new set of rules to make VUGen auto-correlate these
parameters for me: I've given them a couple of tries and these new
rules seem to work fine only for the first 5-6 parameters, then VUGen
just gets "lazy" and it seems unable to correlate the rest of them.
Analyzing the code I've found that VUGen automatically puts at the
beginning of the script the (in)famous web_set_max_param_len to 3618,
because the first parameter it encounters is 3618 character big. My
problem is that the following SaveStates are much bigger than that, so
what I'm askinkg is: do you know if there's a way to set
web_set_max_param_len to a number of my choice BEFORE starting to
record? Is there any configuration file that instructs VUGen to set
this parameter this way?

I've already tried to create a template script with
web_set_max_param_len set up to 150k digits, but no luck :(

Other solutions are welcomed, too. :)

Thanks,
V.

1. Shut down VuGEn if already open.
2. Navigate to the config directory ( in my case its C:\Program Files
\HP\Virtual User Generator\config )
3. In the CorrelationSettings.xml file, change the MaxParamLen to
999999.
4. Save the file and close it.
5. Open VuGEn and in recording options and set the automatic
correlation rules
6. Start recording and the rules should work.
