Hi ,

Could anyone please tell me how I can measure the CPU Utilization of a Web Server in Load Runner.
For this which components I have to take from the monitor ? Wether I have to take the components from the
windows resources from that machine or server components fro the machine where the Web Server is installed
and which components I have to take ?

Thanx,
Krishan

"For this which components I have to take from the monitor ..."

This question references a core skill, Systems Analysis. The
particular monitors deployed are related both to your application
architecture (related to Bottleneck Analysis) and your requirements
under load. Your questions indicate a weakness in this core skill
area. You will want to engage your mentor to assist you in walking
through the architecture and then selecting appropriate monitors based
upon your specific deployment and your requirements.

I think by doing some research you can ans this question on ur own. Let me guide you.

Read architecture and talk to ur devlopers.

If you are using sitescope or anyother monitoring tool, you just need to add ur web server ip in it.

Yes windows resource monitor resource unix resource can give you CPU VALUES you have authentication for it and just add server ip.

For more details read monitoring guide for LR

Attend training to confirm your core systems analysis skills and then read the “friendly” manuals that ship with LoadRunner.

While we can see people asking very basic questions, I believe there is a general trend in this group to guise to references and books than to answer any question specifically. This includes those who themselves don't have answers.

I am no one to suggest anyone to keep silence, but if you've taken time out to reply to some email, where a question was put in front of you. Why not to just answer first and then tell how to develop attitude of RND? We can stop telling ones to "open google" or "do some RND" - givings books references after having answered a question sounds better.

Apologies!

kamran,

with all due respect, if that person was going to give an exam then this would be first thing i will do. But i am assuming that person is coming here to either learn something or for delivering a critical project to client and in either of the case this is not good to give a straight answer, Even giving a straight answer is not more then showing off. if one want to learn something then spend time read books....... and if you are delivering a critical project then dnt cheat with your client .....

i hope you know about making a mud pot. it need to be burned in fire properly, then only it can become  solid one .......... just throwing a burning match stick is not going to do this ...... learning is a life long process ........ and if someone got baked bread, he is not going to give anymore efforts after that.

my point is always concern about learning !!!!

Thanks
