Currently we're just occasionally going on trips--
The next is planned for 8/4 - 8/14, it is 40 miles or less.
I'll be leaving from Ojai perhaps on 8/4, walking to QuailSprings.org, meeting Eric, and we're walking back that same route, probably, between 8/9 & 8/14.
This is the hottest and dryest time to be out there (we walk early and late and rest in the shade in the middle of the day).
If you'd like to come along, let me know.
Between 8/24 and 10/24 I'm planning to work for naturalists at large--so can't wander around as much between those dates--but I may be free for up to a week at times.
The other suggestion I have is for you to join:
http://groups.google.com/group/lpwsand when we get trips organized we can post them there---
so, so far it is not a very formal community, nor have I done much to market it to grow the members. But at least two others have inquired about it since I put up the listing two months ago.
Maybe post there to share ideas about what you're looking for and how to make it happen.
There are others with survival and primitive skills type schools who live together in the wilderness (I know of some in WA state and one in minnesota or michigan), but I've heard of none near socal so far.
Currently I'm volunteering with
wyp.org -- who drive kids in vans to various wild locations and let them play in streams, creeks, rivers, beaches.
So-- that's the state of things right now!
