Venue for State convention

To the SCC.
After much research and due diligence from my team, including Maria Repass, Meredith Hayes and Dave Crance, I have come to a decision on the venue for the next location for the 2026 State Convention, to be held on February 28th. After many hours of work from my team, I believe our best option is the Best Western in Waynesboro, Virginia. Their full quote for the full day of Feb 28th until closing is $3100. It is possible to release some of the space to reduce the price $2800, but I believe we can fully utilize the space to better incorporate sponsors as well as the possibility of further fundraisers (such as silent auction items).
The reasons I believe this is the best option boils down to a few key points.
1. Location: Waynesboro is incredibly centrally located. Those in the far Western part of the state will not feel as if they draw the short end of the stick here. Only 45 minutes from Charlottesville, a little over an hour from Lynchburg, Just under 2 hours from Richmond, 2 1/2 to 3 hours from NOVA, and 3 hours from Virginia Beach, it's far from the furthest drive for anyone. It is also only 15 minutes away from several breweries for pre and post Convention events.
2. Centralization: Having the whole convention located within a hotel where we can get a block of rooms is incredibly easy to manage, and will allow for easy access.
There were cheaper hotels located in Richmond and Charlottesville. But the staff at this hotel seem to be more responsive, and the cheaper hotels in Richmond were nowhere near ideal in terms of facilities and the neighborhood. I believe that this is going to be our best option.
I would urge the SCC to consider this matter with some urgency to go ahead and lock down the venue
speakers, and fundraising. There are already some offers on the table for sponsors that I do not want to grow cold, and I look forward to making this convention run in the black like the last convention.
I propose the following motion be made in my absence at the August 31st meeting:
"The State Central Committee shall budget up to $3100 to book the Best Western Hotel in Waynesboro, Virginia on February 28, 2026 to hold the 2026 Libertarian Party of Virginia Convention."
