I just got off the phone with a customer service rep. from the Disaster
Unemployment Assistance Program (D.U.A.). Rules are rules, unless YOU
have better information. BUT, because we worked those 7 concerts in
New Orleans, we can only get paid for the previous weeks of
unemployment, and only after our regular unemployment benefit amount
runs out. Any work you do, and can be reported, disqualifies you from
any further D.U.A. payments, period. Not like "regular" unemployment
benefit, where you can work a week or two, and then start claiming,
once again. My last unemployment check was for the week of 11/6-12.
Now I get to finally collect on the two weeks after that. Then came
the week of employment in New Orleans. Now, according to the rules of
"the game," I cannot claim anymore payments. Oh yes, the amount is
only $98 per week. If you have any other information you would like to
share, I am willing to be informed. Thanks and Good Holiday Wishes.
