I just got off the phone with a customer service rep. from the Disaster
Unemployment Assistance Program (D.U.A.). Rules are rules, unless YOU
have better information. BUT, because we worked those 7 concerts in
New Orleans, we can only get paid for the previous weeks of
unemployment, and only after our regular unemployment benefit amount
runs out. Any work you do, and can be reported, disqualifies you from
any further D.U.A. payments, period. Not like "regular" unemployment
benefit, where you can work a week or two, and then start claiming,
once again. My last unemployment check was for the week of 11/6-12.
Now I get to finally collect on the two weeks after that. Then came
the week of employment in New Orleans. Now, according to the rules of
"the game," I cannot claim anymore payments. Oh yes, the amount is
only $98 per week. If you have any other information you would like to
share, I am willing to be informed. Thanks and Good Holiday Wishes.
Howard

The irony of the situation. I have been calling the 1-888-217-2440 for
2 Sunday's now, as the "E Z call" for reporting on the claim. The end
message is that "my claim will be filled." I shall let you know when,
and if, the money shows up in my bank account through direct deposit.
Hope you all are enjoying a nice holiday time. Howard

Just saw that I received two weeks of "extended" benefits from the LA
Dept. of Labor, as a direct deposit. I shall keep you updated if the
application for D.U.A. money comes through. So far, at the end of each
call, the computer voice does say "your application for benefits will
be processed." Howard

The wheels are slow to turn, but I am now receiving money from the
Disaster Unemployment Assistance program. I still call in each Sunday
and am only about 3 weeks behind in payments, but they are being direct
deposited into my bank account. Hope to see many of you in a few weeks
in San Luis Obispo, CA. Howard
