Hi All,

I will be attending the LNC in-person meeting in Dallas and would like to submit a report prior to the meeting (the deadline is December 1st).  If anyone has anything they think should be included in the report (about what's going on in CA) please let me know as soon as possible.

Thanks!

We are working with coalition partners to advance Ranked Choice Voting in CA's largest cities. Major efforts are now in place in Los Angeles (charter commission), Sacramento and San Diego (PRCV for City Council elections),

What other groups are you working with and what are the major efforts. Can you maybe give me a bit more information or write a full paragraph explaining what is happening.

Just a reminder. . .if I am going to submit a report I need to do that tomorrow.  Thus far I haven't gotten anything concrete from anyone, so at this moment the only thing I've included is some information regarding the convention.  I would LOVE to include other stuff, but if I don't get something concrete I really won't be able to.

June, I would be more than happy to include something about the ranked choice voting information, but when you say "we are working on" who is the "we?"  And what are the major efforts that are in place in LA?

The major coalitions in CA are California Ranked Choice Voting Coalition and ProRep but each of those groups have local member groups that actually do the educating and campaigning. CalRCV has many member groups some of which are only created for specific local campaigns. ProRep has a coordinating group with a rep from all interested minor parties.

We also work with national groups like Fairvote, Rank the Vote and RepresentUs. They mostly provide resources like money and research materials. I can't site all the local groups off the top of my head but I can try to collect them if you really need that. As an example, The Justice Workshop is taking the lead in San Diego. I don't recall what the LA group is calling itself but it's lead by Christine Harris. I know the LWV is involved in Sacto but don't know if the local organizing group has even picked a name yet. How important is naming the local groups?

I get email from everyone and want to pass on action items from all of them.

I use "we" broadly to mean all activists anywhere.

Hi June,

June, as I explained when we talked on Sunday, I was just hoping to add a bit more detail, but I had to submit the report by Sunday so it's too late for me to add anything at this time.  Sorry about that.

In Liberty,
