This reflects numbers for both state and national membership taken from the respective reports for the end of October. It differs from the graph I shared a few weeks ago in that the national count shown there was from a weekly data file, not the usual report. And as discussed in an earlier message, in the meantime a change was made in the way the national database decides who to count as a sustaining member, which caused our count to drop dramatically, then go partly back up when we questioned our count and they decided to change the assumption they made about life members for whom they did not have signature information, and they also offered to correct records for annual members that had this issue, and Mimi then took them up on that offer by providing additional information about some of our people.
