How could you prove that Amir's journey back to Afghanistan to get Sohrab was to redeem himself?

This was part of his redemption after he got the call from Rham Khan, and then wanted to do good so he  wanted to go back and help. But his redemption wasn't truly is journey, but it was the fact that he adopted Sohrab in and treated him like a son. So his journey wasnt the whole reason, but it was a helping part in the way he was able to adopt Sohrab and take him in and treat him right and do right for his brother.

So the journey itself was not the redemption just support to regain his redemption which was adopting Sohrab, great comment Lance.

I agree with Lance that the trip wasn't what redeemed him however we knew that his journey to Afghanistan in the end was supposed to be what redeemed him because of the phone call from Rahim Khan saying that he had a way to be "good again". The actual redemption was Amir's sacrifice of his own well being and we are shown that when Amir goes kite running with Sohrab and he says what Hassan would say to Amir as kids "for you a thousand times over" now becoming loyal and serving to Hassan's child Sohrab.
