How would you prove that betrayal and guilt are one of the themes in the novel?

Betrayal in this novel happens quite often. Amir betrays Hassan, he watches him get beaten and doesn’t do anything to stop it or say anything. Amir lets Hassan get raped and didnt try to help him either. Hassan’s loyalty is much deeper than Amir’s loyalty. Amir ends up feeling guilty and try’s to redeem himself by saving soharab. This shows his guilt which comes from not helping Hassan. Guilt leads to regret which leads to Amir wanting to help Hassan by helping Sohrab

Betrayal is a very common sign in the novel, and appears with many different characters, not only Amir. As well as guilt, many of the actions done by the characters are acted out of guilt, it drives the novel. As well as the characters trying to make up for their guilty conscience. their actions are defined by their choices they made against that person. With Baba and Alis wife, With Hassan, Amir and Hassans story, Rahim Khan and Amir. All the storylines are done out of the guilty actions and decisions/secrets done by the characters.

Betrayal and guilt are two of the main themes seen throughout the novel and this is through the complications between Amir and Hassan's friendship and how they both have their own struggles that they have to overcome. But also there is betrayal in most of the characters, for instance, Baba knew that Hassan was his son, but refused to tell anyone and hid it from Amir and this came back to haunt Amir into looking back into what he did in his past. But the betrayal of frienships and love, and the guilt of the past show why these two themes are major parts of this novel.
